Theory is the part of learning to dive you can do on the sofa, on the bus or the night before your trip. Do it first and you arrive confident, ask better questions, and spend more of your course actually in the water.
The courses
| Course | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Snorkelling | Starting out: a mask that seals, fins that fit, and being comfortable in calm water |
| Freediving Fundamentals | The basics of breath-hold and relaxation, and why the urge to breathe arrives long before any real limit |
| Scuba Basics | An introduction to the underwater world and how scuba works |
| Open Water theory | A full theory course with knowledge reviews and a final exam, from how you see underwater to planning a dive |
| Nitrox | Enriched air: why a richer mix extends your bottom time and lowers your maximum depth |
| Certified Freediver Level 1 | The theory for an entry-level freediving certification, including breathe-up and safe holds |
| Mermaid theory | The theory behind the Certified Mermaid course, a calm breath-hold sport |
What makes them different
- Illustrated. Pictures that explain why, not just a quiz to click through.
- Written by divers. Plain answers to the questions every learner asks.
- Knowledge reviews. Short checks after each section so it sticks.
- Made for your phone. Pick up where you left off, wherever you are.
The courses teach theory. To be certified you still need practical training in confined and open water with a qualified instructor from an agency such as PADI or SSI. Our guides on how to get scuba certified and how much certification costs cover the next step.
